Our approach to individual therapy includes using a variety of therapeutic skills, including, active listening, validation, challenging unhealthy patterns, and insight-building to help clients work through their distress, develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen their psychological well-being, and help clients learn skills and strategies to achieve their therapy goals.
We strongly believe that therapy is a combination of exploring the psychological processes (often referred to as insight-building) and developing new skills and strategies to help the client improve their quality of life.
What do we mean by quality of life? Quality of life is a multifaceted concept that refers to a person’s overall well-being, encompassing their physical, mental, and social health as well as factors and aspects of participating in everyday life activities. Therefore, improvement in quality of life will look different for each client. This may include: learning strategies to manage anxiety and negative thinking, mental flexibility, adjusting thinking styles/patterns, managing distressing and unpleasant feelings, improving relationships, learning healthy coping strategies for stress, making behavioral changes, developing strategies to manage symptoms of a mental health diagnosis, and many more…
